What is Breast Augmentation?
Breast augmentation, or augmentation mammoplasty, is a surgical procedure used to increase breast size or enhance breast shape. Breast augmentation will typically utilize silicone or saline implants. Breast augmentation surgery is undergone by woman for many different reasons, including: to correct asymmetrical breasts, to create a more proportionate body shape, to obtain larger breasts, and to enhance or restore self-confidence. To perform the surgery, a surgeon will make a necessary incision; lift the breast tissue; create a pocket in the breast area; and then place the implant in the pocket.
Endoscopic Breast Augmentation
Endoscopic breast augmentation is a type of breast enlargement that leaves no scars on the breasts. Instead, an incision is made at the top of the armpit to allow a tiny camera, or endoscope, to be placed inside the breast. The endoscope is used to maintain optimal control and visualization throughout the procedure. The implants are then placed through a small incision under the arm. This procedure can be done using either saline or silicone implants.
When to Consider Breast Augmentation?
You should consider undergoing breast augmentation if:
- You are unhappy with the size of your breasts
- Your breasts are asymmetrical
- You feel as if your breasts are disproportionate to the size of your body
- You are self-concious about the size of your breasts
