Breast Lifts

What is a Breast Lift?

A breast lift, or mastopexy, is a surgical procedure used to correct sagging or drooping breasts, decreased breast volume, stretched areolas, and drooping nipples. Many women undergo breast lifts after changes in skin elasticity due to: pregnancy, breastfeeding, aging, and heredity among other things. To perform the surgery, a plastic surgeon will make a necessary incision around the breast area; then remove tissue; and then lift the areola or breast to the desired position. A breast lift does not change the size of your breasts; if you are interested in enlarging or reducing the size of your breasts, ask us about breast augmentation or breast reduction surgery.

When to Consider a Breast Lift?

You should consider undergoing a breast lift if:

  • You are unhappy with your breasts
  • Your breasts have begun to “sag” or “droop”
  • You would like to decrease the elasticity of your breasts
  • You feel self concious about your breasts

Sometimes a breast lift may be recommended in conjunction with a breast augmentation surgery to achieve a better result. If you have any further questions or would like to schedule a free consultation with Dr. Laughlin, call us today.
